Excavation & Trenching Competent Person (Spanish)

Training provides the foundation for understanding excavation hazards, OSHA requirements, soil behavior, protective systems, and other conditions the competent person may need to evaluate. Training should prepare the individual to understand not only what the rules require, but also how those requirements relate to actual excavation conditions. Completing a training course can support competency, but training by itself does not replace the employer’s responsibility to determine whether the individual can perform the required duties.
